Within the last few days there has been a surprising lot of things happen. Today there was a woman that brought a 2 1/2 year old child who is severely malnourished. They were brought from the Hospital in hopes that we could take the little girl, Winny, in as an orphan. We already have a long waiting list, so we were at a loss as to what we could do. And we were a little questionable that the hospital discharged this child looking the way she does. She is so malnourished her skin is looking really bad and she is so thin it is painful to see. Basically, in the states this child would be in the ICU. We racked our brains for what we could do, because we have no housemothers that would be willing to care for this child. The solution that we have is that the grandmother will stay here with the child, only for a little while, so that we can get the child healthy and nourished. I will attach a picture of her when I can. So please keep Winny in your prayers because without nourishment this child would be dead within the week.
Also, we have school here at Harvesters and our head administrator is Mr. Morris who is from Kenya. Well, here in Sudan the government is trying very hard to have a hand in all things and this makes problems for any private institutions, like our school. Apparently the government has always had a problem with Harvesters, but they have recently wished to put Mr Morris in jail for not complying with their time schedule. And now they are wanting our school to take the same exams as the other school, but they are far below the standards that are held here. And the government is basically saying that they do not want to see any one school be better than any of the other schools. So our school would have to lower their standards, or we would get into trouble. This sounds ridiculous to me, who comes from a country where this sort of thing would be unheard of, but here it is quite common. So please keep the school system and government in your prayers as they are being led by individuals that do not see the whole picture, only what benefits the governments standing.
Also, prices are going up ridiculously high for meds and basically everything, because the government is corrupt. The price to buy a flight ticket has gone up $40 here in Sudan for a flight tax. If you buy the same ticket in Uganda, that tax is not applied. So basically you are paying $40 to fly out of an "airport" with only one dirt landing area and small two room building where everything is taken care of. This is crazy to me. I think the problem is that Sudan imports everything and so must put a higher price on everything to be competitive. Please pray for this country as it tries to find the best government.
Also, please pray for Congo, as there are some bad things going on there. Amazingly people are now coming to Sudan as refugees from Congo, due to the fighting and killing going on there. This seems amazing to me because Sudan is so very far behind in everything due to all the war that has been here, but now people are coming here for relief. Look up what is going on there and keep that poor country in your prayers.
Im sorry that this blog has been completely dedicated to prayer requests. I promise that the next one I will have positive things to say and will give you an update on how I am doing here in Sudan. God Bless!!

My prayers are definitely flowing that direction! Hopefully things have turned around a bit for you. I was just sitting here at my desk, when your blog popped into my head, and I instantly said a prayer for you! We are busy planning the wedding too and are still very much looking forward to you singing in it! Can't wait to see you in Omaha again when we are both back.
