New Miracles Every Day

God is so good, and works in wonderful ways. Yesterday a baby was brought to the clinic that had been sent from Yei Hospital hopeing that we could help this baby. The child was only a few days old and needs a major operation. She was born with spina bifida, basically here in Sudan a death sentence. The child was brought here with her IV still in. The hope was that we could help the family to find some way of getting them to where the baby could get an operation. We were at a loss as to what to do, because we do not have that kind of funds to help this family travel to Kampala, then pay for the operation and stay and everything. So we told the family we would see what we could do and that they should return on Saturday, tomorrow. So we have been praying and praying, trying to find something that we could do or else this child would die without the operation. So today Mirjam emailed a medical forum here in Sudan asking if there is anywhere close that has a neurosurgeon. She received a reply that there was one in Kampala, and was given his contact information. Grandma Shay then called the doctor, and was able to speak directly to him and he is willing to do the surgery for FREE! We were so completely blown away by this! Really, here in Africa, nothing is free, but this doctor is willing to do this major surgery for this child. We are all just completely humbled and shaken by Gods faithfullness. Where before there was no hope for this child, there is now a fount of hope. This child really would die without the surgery from any infection that came along because her spinal cord is exposed to the outside world, making any minor infection deadly. But now with this surgery she has a chance at life, and even with Gods Grace to be able to walk someday. This child now has potential, and will be a blessing to all who know her story.
This is just another miracle in a list of miracles that I have already seen here in South Sudan. So to any who say that God no longer works in miracles, I say look at the child that was born too soon to an abusive father but is now strong and healthy and beautiful. Or look at the little girl that almost lost an eye to an accident, but doctors saved the eye and are now giving her new glasses so that she might see, for free. Or the little boy that came in at 3 months of age so malnourished that he would have died had God not stepped in to bring doctors and nurses together to save his life. Then that same boy burned so badly all over his lower half that he again should have died, but God again stepped in to save his life. And now, the newborn baby with spina bifida with the opportunity to have neurosurgery in Africa. God is doing wonders every day, we just need to open our eyes to see the wonders. Never lose sight of the power that God has to do amazing things. Nothing and nobody is too small for His Glory. Remeber that He knows when even a sparrow falls, so He knows our needs and will provide. Praise God!
